Workbook Conversion

If you choose to upgrade to a newer version of Home Loan Manager Pro the workbooks containing your saved information may need to be converted.

There are two scenarios:

1. Manual Conversion
2. Automatic Conversion

Both scenarios are covered in more detail below.

1. Manual Conversion

If the software cannot automatically update the workbook from an old version you will see the following message:

"Error - File cannot be processed

Manual Conversion Required
The workbook you are trying to load is from an older version of the software.
Refer to the Workbook Conversion topic in the Help Topics for instructions on
manually converting this file."


You will need to export the workbook from an older version of the software and then import it into the newer version, following these instructions:

1. Open the workbook in an older version of the software
2. From the File menu select Export Workbook... then select to an XML file
3. Save the exported workbook (*.hxml) to your computer
4. Run the newer version of the software
5. From the File menu select Open Exported Workbook
6. Select the .hxml file saved in the step above
7. The file should open and convert automatically.

2. Automatic Conversion

If the software can convert your workbook automatically then you will see the following message and there is nothing you need to do:


"The workbook being loaded is from an older version of Home Loan Manager Pro and has automatically been converted to the current version.

Please use a new filename when saving or exporting this workbook, if you wish to keep a backup of the older workbook."


However please note that once a file has been converted to a newer version it will not work with older versions of Home Loan Manager Pro, therefore we recommend you keep a backup of the older workbook.


If you do not see either of the above messages when you open your workbook then a conversion was not required.
